Greens Launch Campaign in Queensland with Focus on Free School Lunches

Australian Greens leader Adam Bandt taking campaigning to an enthusiastic, week-long campaign school in Queensland. His ambition is to hold the party’s three most important seats in Griffith, Ryan and Brisbane. Bandt’s visit to Queensland is partly designed to assist the Queensland Greens to regain and build power in the state. They are advocating for a policy to increase access to free school lunches for all public school children. The main campaign launch will be in Griffith, with a BBQ launch party. Bandt will be accompanied by local candidate Max Chandler-Mather to help open the campaign.

Once in Griffith, Bandt’s schedule will be filled with direct participation in the community. He wants to introduce attention on his own ambitious $11.6 billion proposal, which would give every kid in public schools a free lunch. He underscored the fact that this initiative is much more than a band-aid solution. It offers a long-term solution to reducing the budget burden that millions of families struggle under.

“Teachers report kids who get a good meal concentrate better and learn better, and it’s a huge relief for parents as well,” Bandt stated, underscoring the importance of nutrition in educational settings.

Addressing Cost of Living and Educational Equity

Adam Bandt would like everyone to think that the Greens’ cost of living relief is huge. He stresses that this is deeper than just token help. He referred to it as a move-the-needle strategy, one made for the long haul. This new approach is about providing long-term support to families to cover their ongoing, monthly expenses — not just a one-time boost.

We’re getting reports from teachers that they’re dipping into their own pockets to cover many essentials for students in the classroom because many parents are struggling to make ends meet, he remarked. This underscores the critical need for a systemic change in how we support education. We need to ensure that we’re especially doubling down on our efforts to expand food security.

Bandt is dedicated to ensuring these projects get fully funded. This promise stems from a dedication to raise $2 trillion by levying taxes on big corporations and billionaires. Like, though, the party expects to fund its new policies by raising several hundreds of billions from big corporations and billionaires. This was the only way to ensure that resources were distributed equitably.

Campaigning Across Queensland

Following his engagement in Griffith, Adam Bandt will continue his campaign in Elizabeth Watson-Brown’s seat of Ryan on Wednesday, before concluding his week in Stephen Bates’s seat of Brisbane. His itinerary is a clear indication of a smart strategy to double down on solidifying the Greens’ strength in these key battlegrounds.

Back in Brisbane, Bandt is adamant that the Greens are willing to go to war. They are acutely aware of the formidable task that awaits them. “We never, ever take anything for granted,” he added, quick to point to the highly competitive nature of the evolving electoral landscape.

The campaign’s ultimate goal is to protect where we already have seats. It helps to resonate with voters by addressing immediate social needs, such as food insecurity in school-age children. Bandt pointed out that the Greens’ plan to provide free lunches to all students is a world away from the Coalition’s plan. He slammed the Coalition for focusing subsidies “for CEOs” instead.

Community Engagement and Future Goals

During this campaign week, Adam Bandt will be out visiting local electorates and talking to local communities. Don’t miss his inspiring stories about how free school lunches are uplifting kids and their families. Further, he wanted this new program to ensure that parents could send their children to school peacefully. They’d no longer need to concern themselves with actually serving those meals.

Imagine sending your kids off to school and knowing they would get a nutritious lunch, and one you didn’t have to pay and prepare yourself.

As Bandt journeys across Queensland, this is his focus—to build grassroots support and expand the base for the Greens. To that end, he is a strong advocate for policies that put families’ needs first. His leadership on expanding educational access and support for our students exemplifies a deeper dedication to social equity by members of the community.
