Major Recall Announced for Ninja Foodi Pressure Cookers Due to Burn Hazards

SharkNinja has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 1,846,400 Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers. Today’s action was taken after the dangers of burn hazards were identified with the product. This recall impacts models sold extensively at mass merchandisers, specialty stores, and direct to consumer through retailers nationwide in the United States from January 2019 through March 2025. These types of cookers are sold as multi-cookers and air fryers. They have a 6.5-quart capacity but go by many different model numbers.

The recall affects multiple models: OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HCN, OP302HAQ, OP302HW, OP302HB, OP305, OP305CO, and OP350CO. Be sure to see if you have one of these models! Consumers can locate the model numbers by looking at the label that is printed on the outer surface along the side of the pressure cooker. Retailers such as Costco, Sam’s Club, Target, and Walmart were major retail outlets for the devices as well. They were all found on e-commerce platforms including Amazon and the websites of these big box retailers.

Given the scope of the recall, consumers should stop using the pressure-cooking functionality of their appliances right away. They still know that they’ll be perfectly capable of using the air frying function and other features just fine. SharkNinja is encouraging consumers to reach out directly to them for a free replacement lid. This new effort is intended to address the safety issues associated with the pressure-cooking feature.

The recall comes after multiple reports that users were able to open the pressure-cooking lids of some models while in operation. This creates ominous potential risk to consumer safety. This defect has caused serious burn injuries caused by hot contents exploding out of the cookers. So far, twenty-six federal lawsuits, a majority brought as class action suits, have been filed in connection with these incidents.

“The safety of our customers is a top priority for SharkNinja. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, Ninja is conducting a recall to replace the lid on certain Ninja-brand ‘Foodi’ multi-function cookers in the OP300 model family. This addresses reports that some consumers have been able to open the pressure-cooking lids of certain units of these cookers during use, resulting in burn injuries from hot contents. More information is available at ninjakitchen.com or at CPSC.gov.” – SharkNinja spokesperson

The Ninja Foodi OP300 series pressure cookers sold on the market for approximately $200 and were made in China. If you own a recalled product, contact SharkNinja for a full refund. Your safety in the kitchen and while using these powerful kitchen appliances is their top priority and secret weapon.
