Ayesha Curry and Stephen Curry are both top-tier stars in sports and entertainment. Last year, they jubilantly marked their 13-year wedding anniversary! The couple, known for their strong family values and public personas, share four children: Riley Elizabeth, Ryan Carson, Canon W. Jack, and Caius Chai. These days, we admire how the Currys continue to lead with grace as they navigate their public lives. Their close-knit, loving family dynamic is characterized by playful banter, humor, shared interests and meaningful moments.
The couple originally met as teenagers in 2003, but didn’t start dating until 2008 when they met up again. From there, their relationship prospered and they were married on July 30, 2011. Ayesha and Stephen have since collaborated on carving out a life together that harmoniously integrates their personal and professional goals. In a sweet Instagram post looking back on their 10th wedding anniversary, Ayesha told her husband she was looking forward to decades more together. She wrote, “13 years of being married to the love of my life. I am so excited to see what the next decade brings.”
The Currys welcomed their first child, Riley, into the world on July 19, 2012. Riley was the star of the show when her pop was addressing media during the 2015 NBA playoff run. She became an instant social media star. Her mischievous antics and blunt responses won the nation’s heart. After Riley joined the family, the couple gave birth to Ryan Carson on July 10, 2015. Canon W. Jack was born on July 2, 2018. Their youngest son, Caius Chai, was born on May 11, 2024.
It was during her honeymoon with Stephen that Ayesha decided on the name Canon for her son — and now you know why. Stephen immediately identified with the name, which is French for “young wolf.” As for his immediate family, he lovingly refers to them as a “wolf pack.” As they parent their three children, both Ayesha and Stephen focus, against the backdrop of their sports success, on the depth of family and community support.
In recent interviews, Stephen acknowledged that while he is an accomplished athlete, becoming the first player in NBA history to reach 4,000 three-pointers in March 2023, his children prioritize his role as a father over his basketball accolades. He stated, “I don’t think they care too much about how many times the ball goes in the basket,” adding that to them, “you’re just dad and that’s the best part about it.”
Ayesha made a great point about the change her daughters have made on her self-esteem. She noted, “My girls especially make me feel beautiful. They’re loaded with compliments,” and described how both her husband and children uplift her spirit with their affectionate words.
The family just returned from Paris where they cheered on Team USA with the rest of the country ahead of the 2024 Olympics. This trip showed us their devotion not just to the game of sport, but to the wish to build these experiences as lifelong memories together. Through it all, the Currys have consistently and deliberately put family at the center of every decision they’ve made.
Continuing her journey through growing a family, Ayesha described what led to her and her husband’s choice to grow their family. She stated, “For so many years, Stephen and I thought we were done… But nobody was forgotten. It started to turn my brain a little bit. Maybe somebody was missing.” However, behind this frustration lies their motivation to create a safe and loving space that is ready to receive new life.
Riley’s loud and free spirit can be seen in personable family interactions, particularly between her and her dad. One memorable moment occurred when she playfully chided him: “You’re too loud daddy, be quiet.” These examples give a glimpse of the joy, playfulness and affection of their home environment.
As Ayesha and Stephen continue to balance their careers and parenting duties, they remain committed to each other and their children. Their life together has been characterized by shared commitment, mutual support, and an unflinching devotion to patriotic family ideals.
