Nationwide Recall of Eye Drops Due to Manufacturing Issues

AvKARE, a distributor of generic pharmaceuticals—including three specific types of eye drops—has announced a voluntary statewide recall of numerous lots of affected products nationwide. The decision follows a mid-June 2023 FDA audit of the Hawthorne facility that identified “manufacturing deviations.” As soon as these alarming findings came to light, we sprang into action. This recall affects products sold from May 26, 2023, to April 21, 2025. Their expiration dates spread from April 2025 to March 2027.

Given these serious risks, AvKARE has called on consumers to cease use of the recalled products without delay. The firm has outlined four simple steps for consumers. These measures will do a lot to make people feel safe and allow the safe return of affected items.

Recall Process for Consumers

AvKARE has attempted to make the recall process easy and convenient for the consumers. Consumers are asked to stop using this clothing item and go to the company’s website, https://www.ruggedoutdoor.com/, for a recall form to fill out. Once complete, consumers should either fax the form to 931-292-6229 or email it to customerservice@avkare.com.

After AvKARE gets the completed form, they will mail consumers a Return Authorization Form. This completed form is required to ship the recalled products back to the company. The proactive measures are intended to prevent any possible harm from the contaminated eye drops.

“Deviations may lead to products of unacceptable quality, and it is not possible to rule out patient risks resulting from use of these products.” – AvKARE

Details on Affected Products

The recalled eye drops include a wide range of products that have been available for sale across the country. AvKARE provides a comprehensive list of expiration dates, lot codes, and product details on its website. You can download it from a link on the FDA’s home page. This is information that consumers need to determine if their eye drop products are included in the recall.

The firm stresses the need for increased consumer awareness about such manufacturing discrepancies. By educating customers on the risks they may face, AvKARE hopes to continue building loyalty and keep consumers safe.

Commitment to Consumer Safety

AvKARE looks forward to an opportunity to address this egregious circumstance and protect the public health. The company is confident it is doing everything necessary to fix the manufacturing mistakes uncovered in the FDA audit. They are committed to empowering consumers with transparent information and guidance as they navigate the recall process.
