Felicity Huffman Reflects on Potential ‘Desperate Housewives’ Reboot

Felicity Huffman—best known for portraying Lynette Scavo on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”—just weighed in on one of her favorite subjects… a possible reboot. She was speaking here during her appearance on Good Morning America on May 28th, 2025. The show, which ran from 2004 to 2012, was prophetic. It enthralled viewers with its smarts and wit while bringing comedy, tragedy, and suspense to the drama that unfolded in suburbia’s Wisteria Lane.

During her interview, Huffman expressed her enthusiasm for the idea of revisiting the characters and storylines that made the original series a hit. She spoke positively about a new project that shares a similar thematic essence with “Desperate Housewives,” describing it as “a fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery” set around a group of friends and frenemies living in an idyllic cul de sac.

Huffman acknowledged the appeal of the original show’s premise, where “on the surface, all the Wisteria neighbors are living the dream,” but beneath the facade lie complex secrets. This duality became a driving force behind the series’ popularity and emotional connection with audiences.

In looking back at her own performance, Huffman was self-effacing. “I don’t know what’s going on or how I fared,” she confessed. She is convinced that others can do even better justice to the much-loved characters, which speaks volumes of her craft as she is deeply respectful of it. She stepped right into it, full bore supporting the most creative take the project could go. “I just get really excited about it and I’m a big fan of Kerry’s!” she continued, referring to Kerry Washington, who is reportedly attached to the new version.

The original cast of “Desperate Housewives” was anchored by veteran A-list actors. Teri Hatcher, Susan Mayer, Marcia Cross, Bree Van De Kamp, Eva Longoria, Gabrielle Solis and James Denton Mike Delfino on Desperate Housewives. Other major players on the show were Nicollette Sheridan as Edie Britt, Steven Culp as Rex Van De Camp, and many more. The show’s strong ensemble cast helped produce the show’s unique ability to weave strong ensemble storytelling with deep character exploration and evolution.

Huffman’s call for a reboot is a part with what seems like the majority of what’s happening on TV these days—to revisit familiar franchises. “Desperate Housewives” fans continue to hold out hope for a reunion. They’re hoping for it to get the feel of the original series while weaving in new stories.

“I can’t wait to see it.” – Felicity Huffman
