Tinder Launches Double Date Feature to Enhance Group Dating Experience

Tinder has officially announced the launch of a new feature called Double Date, designed to revolutionize the way users connect with potential matches. This groundbreaking addition allows you to buddy up with pals. You can even participate in group chats with other matched users, fostering an exciting and interactive social dating experience unlike any other.

Through Double Date, users can invite a friend to come along with them on their search through other paired users. To maintain compatibility, each individual in a pair must have at least one personal preference that matches. This might be due to their gender or sexual orientation, for instance. This relationship-building process enriches the dating experience. It offers reassurance and warmth to people moving through the dating world.

The feature lets users invite up to three friends to join in on the dating journey. Once one person in a matched pair gets a match, a group chat opens up with all four people. Once inside the match, you can express interest in an individual profile. This creates a great opportunity for small group discussions. Let us know if you’d like to engage with more intimately!

As a little background, Tinder first rolled out Double Date to a limited number of markets, including Latin America, Spain and the Nordics. After responding to some very positive feedback with refinements, a full global rollout is planned for July. First impressions Early news from Tinder’s proprietary internal data indicates that’s true. Users in Double Date group chats exchanged 25% more messages than those in regular one-on-one chats. Additionally, message volume in Double Date group chats increased by 35%, with a more pronounced increase among users under 29.

Nearly 12% of users who accepted a Double Date invite were new or returning users. Yet, given that it’s a popular feature among hosts, this suggests the feature’s huge potential to lure a wider audience. Tinder’s recent report highlighted that nearly half of singles seek support from friends when approaching the dating scene, underscoring the relevance of this new offering.

According to Cleo Long, Tinder’s head of product marketing, Double Date has made a positive impact on user engagement.

“In early testing, users consistently told us they felt more comfortable to be their authentic selves when connecting as a pair with a friend, which often led to stronger engagement.” – Cleo Long

Double Date wants to serve an elevated, more serious dating experience over a singles bar experience, more conducive to business than a party. Through its Intentions feature that encourages genuine communication between users, Tinder wants to boost matchmakers’ self-assurance and familiarity with possible connections.
