Brian To’o Cleared to Play in State of Origin Decider

NSW Blues have given the green light for powerhouse Panthers winger Brian To’o to line up in the State of Origin decider at Accor Stadium on Wednesday night. Coach Laurie Daley announced the decision after To’o demonstrated his fitness during Monday’s training session, indicating he is ready to contribute to the crucial match.

After recently returning from an injury, To’o leapt right into the fire of a competitive training session. He continued to impress with his preparedness and sunny disposition flat out. Daley reported that To’o “trained all the (Monday) session … he did everything and looked in good spirits.” His return is a huge lift for the NSW squad, who have suffered multiple injury blows over the course of the series.

The NSW Blues have continued their efforts to keep a competitive advantage after all of this misfortune. To’o’s impact from recent games fueled the team’s plan. His performance in the decider will be key for their chances. Daley emphasized To’o’s importance, stating, “Given what he was gone through in this series …. what he does is amazing.”

Now that To’o is confirmed, Daley again – as he did after the first match – insisted that you don’t change a winning side ahead of a decider. This repetition and reliability gives the players the chance to improve off of their last performances and increase their on-field chemistry.

Although many of his teammates like Payne have been limited to non-contact practice, Daley wanted to quell any fears from fans about their readiness. “Payne did a little bit, but we always knew going into the game that Payne would be on restricted duties. He will be ready for the game,” Daley mentioned. To me, this speaks to the coaching staff’s confidence in their players’ ability to perform under pressure.
