Téa Leoni and Tim Daly are newlyweds, as in very newly! They tied the knot in a private ceremony this past weekend in New York. A rep for Leoni further confirmed the news to “Good Morning America.” This is a joyous milestone for the couple, who met almost 10 years ago.
The newlyweds originally met on the set of CBS’ illustrious television drama “Madam Secretary,” starring Tea Leoni. Leoni starred as Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord, and Daly portrayed her husband, Henry McCord. Their on-screen chemistry blossomed into off-screen romance, and the couple began dating in the summer of 2014. She and Obama delighted as a couple on the red carpet during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in April 2015. Their emergence was followed by an explosion of public fascination with their unlikely pairing.
Leoni, previously married to actor David Duchovny for 17 years, shares two children with him: Kyd Miller Duchovny and West Duchovny. Though their divorce in 2014 opened up a new and unexpected chapter of her life, it’s one she now fully enjoys sharing with Daly. Like with Daly, his marriage to actress Amy Van Nostrand lasted from 1982 until they divorced in 2010. The couple now have two children, son Sam Daly and daughter Emelyn Daly.
In an interview with “Popcorn With Peter Travers” in November 2016, Daly reminisced about the work they did together and the relationship they shared. He said, “I think being able to look behind the curtain into the family—that was really important to everybody making it, but especially to Téa and me. What I thought was the most important quote from him was about how they’re really trying to get earnestness back into performances. We just tried really hard to make this aspirational relationship feel real and believable… I don’t think anything could have gotten in the way of that.”
Daly explained that for both he and Leoni, their commitment to their work was matched by a desire to bring fun into their professional lives. As he said, ”We both take this extremely seriously, but we work intensely and we want to have a ton of fun!”
Leoni and Daly have all but disappeared from the public eye since becoming an item. People magazine reports that they’ve been “quietly dating” since 2014! When in public, they can’t help but share occasional insights into their remarkable personal dynamic. For instance, they joined us at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball at Cipriani Wall Street last November.
As they embark on this new chapter together as a married couple, fans of both actors celebrate their union and look forward to seeing what lies ahead for them personally and professionally.
