Donald Trump Diagnosed with Chronic Venous Insufficiency

Donald Trump was recently found to have chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). This rare condition affects the veins in his legs and reverses normal blood flow to his heart. White House physician Sean Barbabella administered a full work-up. He misdiagnosed the former president after observing mild bilateral swelling of the lower extremities. Medical professionals are starting to recognize that CVI can be painful. We might think of it more as an epidemic than a disease, since most people, including Trump, likely have a mild to moderate version.

Exclusion of blood clots and arterial disease during the examination, which would provide greater reassurance against lesser vascular complications, was noted. Chronic venous insufficiency weakens valve function in your veins of the legs. This can make it hard for blood to flow back to your heart, causing blood to pool which can lead to the development of varicose veins.

Understanding Chronic Venous Insufficiency

Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) affects up to 40% of the U.S. population and can be impacted by several patient characteristics. The Australia and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgery advises that if you are overweight, physically inactive, or a smoker, you are at higher risk of developing this disease. Then, commit to act to protect your health today!

Dr. Anahita Dua, a vascular surgeon who has not treated Trump but provided insights on CVI, highlighted that “the vast majority of people, probably including our president, have a mild to moderate form of it.” This proclamation makes a bold statement about the widespread nature of CVI and its toll on daily health and quality of life.

Although there is no cure for CVI, various treatments can help treat symptoms and enhance a patient’s quality of life. Medical-grade compression socks or stockings are commonly advised to increase blood flow back to the heart. Along with pain relief, anti-inflammatories are very good at decreasing swelling.

Treatment and Management

While specifics of Donald Trump’s treatment are still unknown, his condition is likely being managed aggressively. Compression garments are stock-and-trade of the CVI treatment protocol. These therapeutic socks work by steadily squeezing the legs, encouraging blood circulation and reducing the pain caused by having congested legs.

Through a spokesperson, Ms. Leavitt, a senior Trump adviser, acknowledged Mr. Trump’s diagnosis and the exam, but declined to comment on specific treatments. This information vacuum is indicative of a larger movement of protecting patient privacy at the cost of public health interests.

Untreated, CVI can result in severe complications. It is very important that symptoms occur to anyone that wants to make out and seek charter resort of treating them.
