SBS Expands Accessibility with New Podcasts and Daily News Wraps

As part of this push, SBS has developed a number of creative new initiatives to make news digestible and exciting for its audiences. The member-supported organization also recently started delivering daily finance and business news. Listen to the interview in the ten-minute “On the Money” podcast, hosted by SBS Finance Editor Ricardo Gonçalves. Our goal with this program is to give listeners a crash course in some key financial concepts, all in a short format.

In an SBS first, SBS has started a new daily five-minute news wrap – “On the Money”. This wrap was intentionally designed for English language learners and people with disabilities. This initiative is a perfect example of SBS’s deep dedication to being inclusive by making sure important news reaches every part of our community.

SBS produces an array of news podcasts covering a wide range of topics, allowing listeners to stay informed on current events from various angles. Among its many offerings, their “News in English” podcast is a standout. It provides an effective and motivating way for English learners to build their language skills, language arts skills, and stay informed on current events in the process.

It’s now super convenient for listeners to listen to the shows they love best. They can find these podcasts on all the major podcast players. SBS has created a home for news podcasts at sbs.com.au/news/listen. Here, users can quickly browse every single piece of content we have to offer and choose what they find most appealing!

The focus on short-form news podcasts, such as the five-minute and ten-minute wraps, aligns with the modern audience’s preference for quick, digestible information. By producing content that caters to busy lifestyles, SBS is positioning itself as a leader in the evolving media landscape.
