The Wales family, consisting of Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—are preparing to move to a new residence later this year. The family are leaving their home of base Adelaide Cottage. They’ll be moving into Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom home on the grounds of Windsor Castle in Windsor, England. This latest move is a huge step in mending familial bonds. It gets them even nearer to Kate Middleton’s parents, who reside a little over a mile away in Bucklebury.
Since 2022, the Middleton children have been loving lives at Lambrook School in Berkshire. This rural environment has particular meaning for Kate, which combined with her own experience, made the trip even more memorable. She lovingly remembers her childhood growing up in the area—as well as the unique aspect that has molded the way the Cambridges raise their family. The family have lived at Adelaide Cottage since moving in from Kensington Palace last year.
Further complicating matters in an already momentous year for the family, in March 2024, Kate Middleton made her cancer diagnosis public. She didn’t disclose what type or stage her cancer is. She did go through chemotherapy and declared her cancer is in remission back in January.
Her father-in-law King Charles III was suddenly and severely affected by health issues this summer. His cancer diagnosis, revealed by Buckingham Palace in February 2024, came just months after surgery to treat benign enlargement of the prostate. Similar to Kate, Buckingham Palace kept information regarding King Charles’s diagnosis with cancer a secret. They did not disclose the type or stage of cancer or his treatment plan.
This year is particularly special for Prince William and Kate Middleton. Together they are celebrating 14 fabulous years of marriage! The couple has long made clear their priority on family and nurturing strong relationships with those around us. According to royal expert Victoria Murphy, “This move puts them much closer to the Middletons, and Kate is very close to her family.”
With days to go until their move to Forest Lodge, the Wales family can hardly wait. They love the adventure of new frontiers, all while remaining grounded in their love of Berkshire.
