SBS Expands Podcast Offerings with Business and English News Wraps

Welcome to our two new, really cool, SBS podcasts! These offerings are designed to improve access to finance and business news, as well as serve as important tools for English language learners and those living with disabilities. SBS is introducing these new initiatives “On the Money” and “News in English.” Each of these programs show that they are serious about providing quality, diverse, and inclusive content.

On the Money, hosted by SBS Finance Editor Ricardo Gonçalves, is a ten-minute daily podcast that rounds up all the key finance and business stories. Hosted by the ever-knowledgeable and engaging Gonçalves, the podcast gives listeners straightforward updates on recent economic news and trends. This new podcast, produced in partnership with CNBC, seeks to educate audiences with short, snackable looks at the fast-moving, complex world of business.

SBS has produced “News in English,” a five-minute daily news wrap specifically designed to be accessible for English learners and people with disabilities. This builds on their current program, “On the Money.” This podcast simplifies current events, making them accessible to a broader audience by using clear and straightforward language.

Both podcasts are designed to fit into a growing suite of SBS News podcasts. You can find a whole world of other news podcasts on their website that listeners, advocates and others helped save. Their ambitious section for audio news podcasts sits at SBS News Listen. All of these podcasts are on any major podcast app. Combining those two aspects makes it convenient for audiences to engage with them from the platforms where they’re most comfortable.

There’s unique branding for each podcast, so our listeners have a clear idea of what they’re hearing. Complete with a not-so-subtle caricature, On the Money, is our most famous and least popular series art. The cover art associated with the “News in English” podcast.

With these new podcasts, SBS continues to cater to diverse audience needs, ensuring that both financial news and essential information are accessible to all. The shift toward inclusivity shows SBS’s commitment to producing a style of quality journalism that connects with and serves their community in a more meaningful way.
