Jack Silvagni Bids Farewell to Carlton After a Decade of Dedication

All important Carlton player Jack Silvagni who was ten years at the club with deep roots becoming an institution with it, on her departure. Having played 128 games for the club, Silvagni reflects on his journey with deep emotion and gratitude, acknowledging the profound impact that being a part of Carlton has had on his life.

During his ten years with Carlton, Silvagni etched a legacy on the club that would become inextricably woven with that of his family. His father, Serge Silvagni, created characters that made an indelible imprint on the club’s history. Together with his grandfather, Stephen Silvagni, they played a total of 551 games. Jack was surprised to feel a swell of pride at the sight of his name on the locker right beneath theirs. It represented almost seventy years of direct family lineage at Princes Park.

In an emotional letter written to Carlton supporters, Silvagni expressed his love for the club and her fans. He later wrote of how thankful he was for the opportunity to fulfill his dream of playing for Carlton. He pointed out the honour and the responsibility associated with donning the guernsey.

“The honour of pulling on the guernsey and the responsibility that comes with that has and never will be lost on me.” – Jack Silvagni

Silvagni’s legacy at Carlton extended far beyond his prowess on the field. He built powerful connections that deepened his journey. He grew up surrounded by players he idolized, forming lifelong friendships and connections that have significantly shaped his life. One unforeseen benefit to his time at the club was it’s where he met his wife. This milestone added to his impressive personal achievements as a member of Carlton.

The former forward also celebrated another personal milestone: becoming a father. His one-year-old son has already begun shadowing him on the job. The news takes on a more poignant meaning considering Silvagni’s subsequent departure from the club.

Looking back on his career recently, he conceded that 2025 was indeed a pivotal year, the year he finally committed to defense full time. That year turned out to be a career-best for him, only further proving his ability to adapt and overcome on the field.

Even with his exit, Silvagni sent a strong message to Blues supporters with his unswerving allegiance to the club. He remarked, “While I may no longer be playing, I will always consider myself a Carlton person and definitely a Carlton supporter.”

As Jack Silvagni gets ready to take a lap of honour away from Carlton, he has still not nominated a new club. Currently, Collingwood and Western Bulldogs are in front in the race for his services. He’s looking forward to this new career chapter.
