Dax Shepard Celebrates 21 Years of Sobriety with Heartfelt Tribute from Kristen Bell

Dax Shepard, known for his candid discussions about addiction, recently achieved a significant milestone in his life: 21 years of sobriety. This accomplishment is a reflection of his personal story and his dedication to his long-term success and recovery. His wife, actress Kristen Bell, announced the historic achievement on Instagram yesterday with an emotional and loving tribute.

In her post, Bell shared a touching message, writing, “This is what 21 years of sobriety looks like.” She further expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am eternally grateful to have you. We all are 💕” Her tribute focused on the joy and strength that are part of living in the wake of such a hard-fought accomplishment.

Shepard, 50, has been candid about his struggles with addiction and recovery. He acknowledges the importance of going to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings and agrees to attend AA meetings at least twice a week. To his daughters Lincoln and Delta, he’s made it clear the importance these meetings have had on his sobriety. “I’m an alcoholic, and if I don’t go there, then I’ll drink and then I’ll be a terrible dad,” he has stated previously.

The couple’s path to parenthood has not been without its difficulties. In late 2020, after 16 years sober, Shepard went through a highly publicized relapse. He has remained transparent about his experiences, discussing the realities of addiction with his daughters and on various platforms, including Chelsea Clinton’s “In Fact” podcast.

Shepard responded to Bell’s tribute with humor, saying, “Well this is a low blow. Even for you. Makin’ a guy cry when he can’t turn to booze?!?!” His playful jab was a testament to the couple’s chemistry, allowing them to approach sensitive topics with tenderness and humor.

And everyone, from Tyler Perry to Ava DuVernay, celebrated the moment Shepard made history. Nina Dobrev shared her admiration with a series of praise emojis, while Rachel Bilson responded with heart emojis to Bell’s touching post. And actor Cheyenne Jackson weighed in with a bunch of exuberant “Yes” emojis, which was indicative of the LGBTQ community’s reverence toward Shepard’s journey.
