Good Shepherd to Celebrate Recovery Month with Free Art Gallery Event

Good Shepherd, an organization dedicated to assisting individuals grappling with addiction and homelessness, is set to host a special event at Wolverhampton Art Gallery. This celebration will take place from 18:00 to 21:00 BST during the gallery’s monthly series of Friday lates. The event kicks off Recovery Month in style! There will be tons of activities including family-friendly workshops, live music, and entertainment, all for FREE!

Taking themed nights to their community, the Friday Lates program at Wolverhampton Art Gallery continues this popular initiative. Happy last Friday of the month! Good Shepherd’s participation this September is a testament to its commitment to serving individuals as they pursue recovery. Kate Penman, the project lead at Good Shepherd, said that this was an important occasion.

“We are celebrating recovery and the undeniable role that the arts play in these journeys.” – Kate Penman

The event will include special activities such as African drumming workshops, all free and open to the public! Participants of all ages will have a blast creating wildflower clay bombs too! Good Shepherd has a solid institutional history in increasing civic participation. Most recently, they hosted a Recovery Walk on West Park greenway on September 13 to honor people in recovery from addiction. The city’s success in a competitive public voting process to secure the walk demonstrates the community’s passion for recovery efforts.

Kilby, the creative producer at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, said their intention in working with Good Shepherd was to “elevate the already exceptional work” being done.

“It’s fantastic to celebrate the great work that the Good Shepherd do in the community and the Friday lates are an opportunity for people to get involved in culture in Wolverhampton.” – Dinosaur Kilby

Good Shepherd is celebrating recovery month in a big way! They’re developing their community art gallery into a dynamic, energetic late night venue where arts and healing collide. The organization aims to foster a sense of community while providing resources and support to individuals facing addiction and homelessness.
