Friend’s Bold Subway Campaign Introduces Wearable AI to New Yorkers

Friend, a pioneering new wearable AI companion device has launched a bold advertising blitz throughout New York City. With this initiative, they are spending more than $1 million to catch the ears of subway riders. The campaign features more than 11,000 cards displayed on subway cars, 1,000 platform posters, and 130 urban panels strategically placed throughout the city’s bustling subway stations.

Avi Schiffman, CEO of Friend, masterminded the multi-award-winning marketing blitz. His objective was to launch and establish the key differentiators of their cutting-edge wearable tech. The ads are highly visible throughout the system, with multiple placements on the busiest subway station, West 4th Street.

The minimalist design of the ads makes them notable, with their sparse use of white space. Schiffman’s decision to conduct this minimalist interview in person was calculated to elicit social critiques and critiques from viewers. He understands the New York pushback to artificial intelligence. He knows that locals have good reason to hate AI even more than anyone else in the country. This understanding no doubt played into his decision-making process to turn the audience into an active participant in the conversation surrounding AI technology.

This is the world’s first significant AI campaign,” said Schiffman, highlighting the innovative nature of Friend’s marketing strategies. The campaign employs subway cars, platform posters as well as city panels to advertise the device. It seeks to combat AI by changing how future users think about the technology.

Friend’s wearable device is easy to use, fits in well with day to day life. That’s an attractive and powerful proposition for users, especially in our increasingly high-tech world. The marketing campaign is a testament to the company’s commitment towards producing AI solutions that are relatable and easily understood at the most basic level by everyone.
