Lewis Hamilton is devastated. His long-time companion bulldog, Roscoe, recently died at 12 years old. Roscoe, an influencer celebrity in his own right within the F1 paddock, was not just Hamilton’s dog. He was a cherished friend who stole the show and the hearts of fans across the globe. Hamilton broke the news of Roscoe’s passing in an emotional Instagram post viewed by tens of millions.
Hamilton officially adopted Roscoe in 2013, and the bulldog soon became a regular presence in the intense world of Formula 1. Roscoe’s larger-than-life personality and charm made him an instant social media star. His widespread popularity even earned him cameo appearances on the Netflix series “Drive to Survive.” Throughout their adventure together, Hamilton frequently elaborated on the happiness Roscoe added to his life.
Just a week ago, Roscoe became sick with pneumonia and had to be hospitalized in critical condition. For Hamilton, this was a biting choice to make. He even opted out of a critical pre-season tyre test with Ferrari to be with Roscoe during this difficult time. He expressed uncertainty about Roscoe’s prognosis, stating, “We don’t know whether he will wake from this.”
After four days on life support, Hamilton was forced to make an agonizing decision.
