Gerry Turner, the original heartthrob of “The Golden Bachelor,” is officially back on the market. Now age 74, he has formally declared his engagement to a wedding planner named Lana Sutton. This thrilling development comes only 15 months after he separated from Teresa Nist, who he wed in a televised ceremony back in January 2022. This July, Turner posted a joyful message on Instagram advising the news was coming on October 4, 2025. Sutton followed suit later that day with a post of her own.
Turner and Sutton made the public debut of their relationship earlier this year. This news followed closely on Turner’s announcement that he had been diagnosed with WMNM, Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, a rare blood-related cancer which produces too many abnormal white blood cells in the bone marrow. This diagnosis was disclosed just a few months before their relationship became publicly known. It added a magnetic new dimension to their tumultuous love story.
Though the road has been difficult due to his health issues, Turner has shown Sutton just how much he cares for her. In a joint statement on their engagement, he revealed,
“We’ve got BIG news. The Golden Bachelor is OFF the market. I found my perfect match and she said ‘YES.’ I love this woman.” – Gerry Turner
Sutton echoed these sentiments in her own announcement, celebrating their engagement with enthusiasm:
“BIG announcement… we’re ENGAGED!💍🎉❤️ The Golden Bachelor Season 1 led me to the man of my dreams… Gerry Turner!!! I love you, Babe, more than I ever thought possible!” – Lana Sutton
Turner’s artistic exploration of love has been a beautiful, clarifying, painful free fall. He won the heart of Teresa Nist this fall as the first star of “The Golden Bachelor.” Sadly, their marriage was cut short just three months later. Now, with Sutton at his side, he looks hopeful and excited like a man who believes brighter days lie ahead.
