Jeep Hybrid Models Under Recall Due to Battery Concerns

Chrysler just announced an unprecedented recall of over 320,000 of its Jeep hybrid vehicles for potentially lethal battery defects. The recall encompasses two popular models: the Jeep Wranglers from model years 2020 to 2025 and the Jeep Grand Cherokees from model years 2022 to 2026. The recall only applies to 228,221 model year 2010 Jeep Wranglers. On top of that, it aims to recall 91,844 Jeep Grand Cherokees that rely on batteries produced by Samsung SDI America.

Interim notification letters are to be sent to vehicle owners by December 2, 2025. These letters will notify vehicle owners of the recall and offer preliminary instructions on next steps. After these interim notifications, we will issue further notification letters after a final remedy has been developed and deployed for the precise issue that was discovered.

Chrysler is recommending owners of the affected vehicles to park them outside. Keep the vehicles at least 50 feet from any structures until we get to the bottom of it. This simple, precautionary measure is designed to avoid any potential risk posed by the battery defects.

Those batteries were manufactured by Samsung SDI America, an automotive battery maker also headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. As part of the recall process, Chrysler is working closely with its battery supplier to address the problem and ensure the safety of its customers.

Chrysler’s decision to take the first step toward a recall demonstrates their public interest in vehicle safety and customer satisfaction. We will keep you informed as the automaker continues to reassess the situation and make further determinations. Vehicle owners should stay alert and drive according to the recommendations until Chrysler provides further guidance.
