Brad Arnold, the 46-year-old frontman for Mississipi rockers 3 Doors Down, has posted some tough news. He is now known to have Stage 4 clear cell renal carcinoma. This fast-moving type of cancer has metastasized to his lungs. It will have a huge impact on the band’s soon-to-begin Summer of ‘99 Tour, set to kick off in July.
In an emotional video announcement, Arnold explained that he had been muted for the previous few weeks. At last, he found himself convinced that it was time to get medical help. We had gone through a battery of tests at the hospital and then came the ominous news— he was likely facing cancer.
“Got some not so good news for you today,” – Brad Arnold
Arnold elaborated on the diagnosis, stating, “I’ve been sick a couple of weeks ago and then went to the hospital and got checked out and had actually got the diagnosis that I had a clear cell renal carcinoma, that it metastasized into my lungs and it’s Stage 4, and that’s not real good.”
This cancer type is the most frequent subtype of renal cell carcinoma. It represents around 80% of all filings. Clear cell renal carcinoma, for instance, can have a hereditary component, as it is linked to genetic conditions such as Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome.
Arnold is a founding member of the rock band 3 Doors Down. He has been the beating heart of the trio since it first formed in Mississippi back in 1996, creating music with Todd Harrell and the late Matt Roberts. The present lineup features Greg Upchurch, Chris Henderson, Justin Biltonen and Chet Roberts. The band was slated to share the stage with prominent acts such as Nickelback, Creed, and Vertical Horizon during their summer tour.
Arnold shared his disappointment over the tour’s cancellation owing to his health condition.
“It is gonna force us to cancel our tour this summer, and we’re sorry for that,” – Brad Arnold
Noah Arnold, who recently rocked the 2023 FOX & Friends’ Summer Concert Series on May 26, in New York City. The growing health complications related to coal mining have forced him to reconsider his pledges.
Now fans and fellow musicians are rallying around him. This announcement is an exciting opportunity for Arnold, it represents a difficult time for him and the broader 3 Doors Down family. The band has enjoyed a successful career spanning decades, and Arnold’s health will remain a top priority as they navigate this difficult time.
