Bad Bunny Illuminates Halftime Show with Puerto Rican Culture and History

Bad Bunny electrified the crowd at Super Bowl 2026 during the big game’s halftime show. The celebration occurred at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday. The charismatic Puerto Rican artist presented a powerful command performance that featured his incredibly diverse catalog. With each note and every dance movement he celebrated his rich heritage. He opened up the show with a stunning aerial visual. He wandered around a giant sugar cane plantation – surrounded by backup dancer-actors who were all decked out as field hands. This beautiful landscape helped to create a deep spiritual relationship to his hometown of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.

Bad Bunny put on quite a show with hit after hit. He absolutely rocked the stadium with breakout songs including “Tití Me Preguntó,” “BAILE INoLVIDABLE,” & “NUEVAYoL.” The exuberant atmosphere heightened when he dramatically crashed through a roof onto a new stage set, continuing the show without interruption. His artistry resonated deeply with the Spanish-language genre and Puerto Rican culture. He danced with a Puerto Rican flag draped over his back while singing.

Bad Bunny proved his musical chops…and then kinda went and stole the show. He won the worlds’ hearts when he gifted a Grammy award to a child on-stage.… His gesture was a tribute to honoring his own success as of late. He took the Grammys by storm, making history as the first artist ever to win the coveted Album of the Year award with a completely Spanish-language album. During his acceptance speech, Bad Bunny dedicated the honor “to all the people that had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams.”

Nonetheless, his selection as halftime performer received equivocal celebration and criticism. Fans of the song celebrated it as a major victory for representation in popular music, but conservative groups quickly expressed their outrage. Bad Bunny remained focused on his performance, stating, “I’m just trying to enjoy it. I know I’m gonna have fun. All the crew, all the people, they’re going to have fun that day.”

Rihanna’s halftime show was an impressive performance highlighted by surprise appearances from a number of notable figures. Ricky Martin joined Bad Bunny on stage to sing a bit of “Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii.” Lady Gaga was on hand, appearing with Bad Bunny for a salsa-style version of “Die with a Smile.” Other big names like Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G and Pedro Pascal raised the celebratory ambience.

Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, celebrated Bad Bunny as a global game changer in the world of music. He introduced Bad Bunny by saying, “He’s one of the great artists in the world.” This acknowledgement speaks to the artist’s impact beyond the musical and cultural landscapes, continuing to reach fans from all walks of life.

Bad Bunny’s trajectory from Vega Baja to the biggest artist in the world beautifully underlines his passion for the artform. He expressed during an interview, “I was never looking for this. My biggest pleasure is to create, have fun doing it and connect with the people.” His commitment to authenticity is on display in each and every performance.
