Dan Rivera, senior lead investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), has died suddenly. NESPR posted this unfortunate news to their Facebook page the morning of July 14. For Rivera, a deeply respected monster hunter, the focus was always on his commitment to documenting the unknown and communicating it with everyday people. Tour production ideas Sheeley assumed a creative leadership position on the Devil on the Run Tour. This year’s event included the famed Raggedy Ann doll, “Annabelle,” in Gettysburg from July 11-13.
Accompanying Rivera on her journey was Annabelle, a doll packed with creative baggage. NESPR, the organization investigating her case, says she’s become the Spirit of Annabelle, a Bartender’s spirit. Rivera’s mission was to teach and engage everyone who sought knowledge about the paranormal world. This year’s tour was a key part of that mission. His conviction that sharing information about such phenomena was “the right thing to do” turned him into a beloved figure in the community.
Ryan Buell, host of “Paranormal State,” issued the following statement regarding Rivera’s passing that reveals how devastated he feels by the loss. Buell told the story of how Rivera was instrumental in helping him navigate his own recovery process.
“When I got clean and entered recovery and decided to show my face again, hardly anyone wanted anything to do with me. But Dan believed in me,” Buell stated.
Buell emphasized Rivera’s desire to welcome him back into the NESPR family, highlighting the close-knit relationships formed within the organization.
On the day of the announcement, Buell’s fellow investigators Tony Holmes and Wade Kirby spoke about their pain on the same day of the announcement.
“It’s with deep sadness that investigator Tony Holmes, investigator Wade Kirby, and I share the sudden passing of our close friend and partner, Dan Rivera,” they wrote.
Colleagues remembered Rivera as a fierce, loyal friend, with a huge heart who made an impact on so many lives. Chris Gilloren, another lead investigator at NESPR, emphasized Rivera’s devotion to the world of paranormal investigation.
“Dan truly believed in sharing his experiences and educating people on the paranormal. His kindness and passion touched everyone who knew him,” Gilloren remarked.
With Rivera’s sudden death, there is now a huge void in the paranormal investigation community. His impact didn’t just stop with his classmates — it encouraged generations of learners like you, more curious about our planet and universe. One of the last photos taken of him is still available online, beautifully celebrating the life that he lived, and his legacy will live on.
