Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman are set to co-host the nominations for the 2026 Academy Awards. It’s an amazing achievement, especially as we near one of the most glamorous events in all of Hollywood. These nominations will then be announced live on Thursday, January 22, as part of an episode of “Good Morning America.” This year’s ceremony will broadcast on Sunday, March 15 starting at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.
Brooks is really wow’ing us with her triple-threat breakout of “The Color Purple” and “Peacemaker.” As an Oscar nominee, she further brings her own acclaims to the mix. Pullman, who gained recognition for his performance in “Top Gun: Maverick” and was nominated for an Emmy for his role in the Apple TV+ series “Lessons in Chemistry,” is excited to share the stage with Brooks.
The nominations voting period for the 98th Academy Awards is scheduled to close on January 22. Now Academy members can cast their votes from a very competitive pool of 317 films! Even more remarkable, 201 feature films are eligible in the highly competitive Best Picture category. Their Oscars shortlists, first released in December 2025, include short film animated and visual effects and up to nine other categories.
Together with Conan O’Brien, this year is a historic return – for O’Brien, as host of the Oscars for the second straight year. His incomparable spirit and wit produced some of the most memorable-going away parties ever held. Just like last year, this year he’ll be bringing the same high-octane experience.
Brooks expressed her excitement about the nominations, saying “Oh. What. Fun.” as she looks forward to the fun atmosphere of the event. Pullman said she shared her sentiments. Professionally, he has never felt more honored to be a part of such a significant, history-making occasion in the world of filmmaking.

Also, the Oscars could still have a grand ceremony this year. They’ll be first honoring casting directors for their accomplishments on films released in 2025, underscoring the growing importance of that role on big productions. Brooks and Pullman prepare to fulfill their new roles with enthusiasm. They pay tribute to the nominees this evening, but to the vast expanses of imaginative and diverse storytelling on display this year.
The Academy is deeply committed to principles of inclusivity and diversity. That commitment will be on full display as it recognizes the most effective films of 2018 and 2019. With anticipation building for the nominations announcement, both Brooks and Pullman are poised to deliver an engaging presentation that showcases talent from across the industry.
