Donald Trump Returns to the UK for Historic Second State Visit

On September 17 th Donald Trump paid his second State Visit to the United Kingdom. This trip was a historic first in the diplomatic relationship between both countries. King Charles III and Queen Camilla welcomed the former president and First Lady Melania Trump to Windsor Castle. The program featured a ceremonial welcome and State Banquet with esteemed members of the British royal family.

When Donald Trump and Melania Trump landed at Windsor Castle, they received a royal welcome. Their Royal Highnesses, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, welcomed them. Their generous, boisterous welcome made for a jubilant, joyful, homecoming kind of visit. This gesture highlighted the special relationship enjoyed by the United States and United Kingdom.

The ceremonial welcome, held inside the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle, was the first state visit for Donald Trump and wife Melania, and they were honored as such. The day after the King’s lavish State Banquet, King Charles III delivered his most ambitious speech yet. He looked back on the shared history that has always bonded our two nations. This visit is unique in many ways. Donald Trump will be the first such elected political leader in modern history to twice receive such a state visit from a British monarch, on the heels of his welcome by Queen Elizabeth II in 2019.

Joining the Trumps were their daughter, Tiffany Trump and her husband, Michael Boulos. Their presence brought a wonderfully familial warmth to the very formal proceedings. Of course, Prince William and Catherine showed U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio an exhilarating cross-country dash through the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle. They celebrated the beautiful heritage and creative art that is tucked away in its walls.

At the State Banquet Catherine, Princess of Wales, wowed with a dramatic entrance. She stunned in a custom couture gown by Phillipa Lepley and finished her look with the ever-popular Lover’s Knot Tiara. This iconic royal jewel was made for Queen Mary in 1914. Princess Diana wore it, lending some royal legacy to the night. First Lady Melania Trump attended, turning heads in a gray skirt suit and matching mauve hat, both by Dior.

Transporting Donald and Melania Trump to Windsor Castle in the gilded state landau. There, they were treated to a ceremonial reception complete with all the British pageantry that is sure to impress. It was only fitting that the Trumps played a major role in this historic event. Unlike most celebrity trips, they did more than socialize. They displayed their shared values and mutual respect.
