George Stephanopoulos and Ali Wentworth Welcome New Puppy Fig to Their Family

Well, we’ll have one of George Stephanopoulos, co-anchor of “Good Morning America,” so stay tuned. He and actress and author wife Ali Wentworth just added a new family member! The pair recently added Fig, an all-female puppy, to their pack. They adopted her from 1 Love 4 Animals, a Chester County, Pennsylvania-area nonprofit animal rescue.

It’s a bittersweet adoption story as this couple took home this adorable pup after losing their best friend and dog—Cooper. Stephanopoulos and Wentworth decided to adopt because they wanted to give a loving home to a dog who needed one. At 1 Love 4 Animals, she met a whole bunch of amazing dogs and fell in love with Fig.

Stephanopoulos initially sought a male puppy. But something about Fig knocked him off his feet. Wentworth remembered the first time they met the puppy. The postcard from that little girl looked like hey hello I’m potentially the cutest baby in this clan! The pair’s choice shows just how dedicated they are to providing a rescue dog with an opportunity to change their fortune.

1 Love 4 Animals has been an essential part of rescuing dogs from puppy mills and crowded city shelters. The PHILLIE organization works day-in and day-out to find safe places for every animal. Their tireless advocacy will take center stage at the Broadway Barks adoption event in New York City on July 12, alongside over 20 other amazing organizations.

Looking back on the rocky road that brought them to Fig, Wentworth made it clear that this was an emotional journey. He has since passed, and we’ve expressed our grief over his loss even as he fought cancer. I had the time and energy to provide other dogs with a great life,” she said. This feeling, seen in the shelter, reflects the couple’s wish to shower love and affection on a new pet after losing one of their own.

The arrival of Fig makes for happier days not just for Stephanopoulos and Wentworth, but for their two daughters. The family couldn’t be more excited to begin this new adventure together! They’re excited about putting plans into action that will help Fig feel at home as she adjusts to her new surroundings.
