Halle Berry Calls Out Governor Gavin Newsom at New York Summit

Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry has made it her mission to advocate for menopause care. She doubled down on her call for action against California Governor Gavin Newsom in her speech last week at the New York Times DealBook Summit in New York City. Berry slammed Newsom for his lack of attention to women’s health, particularly in regard to menopause. She did not mince words about her frustration with his veto of critical legislation intended to solve this major problem.

Berry’s an award-winning actress and activist. As a passionate advocate, devoted mum of two and menopause ambassador, she fights for greater understanding around menopause. She founded Respin, a company focused on menopause care, to provide resources and support for women navigating this significant life transition. Menopause transition can take up to a decade before and after the final period. All of this underscores the urgent need for education and research in this emerging field.

She reminded him that he has consistently neglected women and devalued their experiences in midlife. Due to this type of behavior, she thinks he can’t be trusted with higher office.

“And with the way he’s overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us in midlife, he probably should not be our next president either, just saying,” – Halle Berry.

This was not the first time the actress had urgently advocated for women’s health issues. In her speech, she pledged not to stop pushing for progress. Her testimony illuminated that her commitment flows from a profound sense of personal and moral obligation to do so. She hopes to make life better for herself and her grandchildren.
