Iconic Fashion Film Returns with Sequel Release Date Announced

The release of the long-expected sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” was just officially announced for May 1, 2026. This sequel represents a real cause for celebration on the big screen, twenty years after the hundred-million-dollar hit first taken the world by storm.

The inaugural movie was released back in 2006. It featured a murderers row of talent, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt, Simon Baker and Adrian Grenier. Meryl Streep’s performance as the terrifying editor-in-chief of the fictional fashion magazine Runway, Miranda Priestly, has become legendary. Starring Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, a journalist who dreams of making it big, only to have her life changed by the unforgiving Priestly. Armed with brilliant performances and lavish production value, Andy’s journey in the film metamorphoses her from an innocent assistant to the confident woman she would become, unapologetically herself.

The Devil Wears Prada—based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same name. Its biting wit and fresh take on the fashion world’s cutthroat culture resonated heavily with critics and audiences. This relationship further enhanced its role as a pop cultural touchstone.

The announcement of the sequel has brought a new wave of appreciation for the characters we fell in love with and followed on their journey. While details about the plot remain under wraps, fans can expect to see familiar faces as well as new characters in this continuation of the story.
