Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are said to have called off their engagement after almost nine years dating. The pair became engaged on Valentine’s Day of 2019. They celebrated the arrival of their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, in August 2020. As documented in a recent report by People, they have “parted ways.”
Perry and Bloom started dating in 2016, grabbing the public’s attention with their celebrity relationship. Perry has been very vocal about being attracted to Bloom’s “free spirit.” She thinks it perfectly counters her own temperament. Nevertheless, their love for each other was real, though growing difficulties forced them to attend couples therapy.
In 2024, Perry opened up about how therapy changed their relationship. She explained,
“We do a lot of couples therapy and we want to evolve. That’s, I think, why we’re in our relationship is to become better humans so that we can raise this beautiful human being.” – Katy Perry
Though the couple’s journey proved challenging at times. In fact, prior to her serious relationship with Bloom, Perry had a much more publicized marriage with funnyman Russell Brand. Sadly, that union ended in 2012 after just 14 months. Bloom, too, has a storied past. His first marriage was to Miranda Kerr, with whom he shares 13-year-old son Flynn.
Despite their mutual dedication to parenting and self-improvement, according to multiple sources the couple has now elected to separate. Representatives for both Perry and Bloom did not immediately respond to requests for comment about their split.
Behind the scenes, as well as outside of them, Perry and Bloom’s romance has been an object of intense fascination, both within the entertainment industry and among fans. Their relationship went beyond romantic love to an emphasis on parenting, co-parenting and emotional growth through therapy.
