Kelsey Grammer Celebrates Arrival of Eighth Child at 70

If you’re Kelsey Grammer, the celebrated star of “Frasier” and “Cheers,” you just had that eighth kid. Unbelievably, he accomplished all this at age 70! He shared this happy news in the midst of an equally momentous and raucous surprise appearance on the “Pod Meets World” podcast feed. The special episode was hosted by Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle. This newest addition brings his expanding family much happiness. David’s grateful that his family today includes children from both his first two marriages and his current one.

His family life as a bachelor Grammer’s deep personal journey begins with the birth of his first child, Spencer Grammer, in 1983 with his first wife, Doreen Alderman. Just as Spencer’s father, a minister, had always wanted, Spencer has taken the path of the thespian. She serves as the touchstone of the start of an inclusive, varied family tree. His second child, Greer Grammer, born in 1992 with wife Barrie Buckner, continued to the family’s legacy as a dynasty of entertainers.

In 2001, Grammer and ex-wife Camille Meyer welcomed Mason Grammer, and added Jude Grammer in 2004. The actor’s journey to fatherhood, and ensuing role as a dad, have informed both his off-and on-screen life.

Grammer has been open about how important his job as a father is to him. He stated, “My children — my young children, older children — the happiest I ever am is if they’re all in the same room together.” He shows how serious he is about being a family man by balancing an acclaimed acting career. Yet he doesn’t shy away from the highs and lows of parenthood.

With his wife Kayte Walsh, Kelsey Grammer has welcomed four children: Faith Grammer in 2012, Gabriel Grammer in 2014, Auden James Grammer in 2016, and most recently, their son Christopher. Reflecting on this milestone, he remarked, “We just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids.”

He was thankful for the challenges that come with being a dad. He said, “I’ve been given this great experience. It’s been painful and challenging and hard and tragic — all those things. But boy, it’s a great life.”
