Kim Kardashian Testifies in Robbery Trial as Verdicts Are Reached

This week, Kim Kardashian was on the stand in a Paris courtroom. She reflected on the violent armed robbery that took place in 2016. During the trial, Kardashian recounted the horrifying moments when five masked men, posing as police officers, stormed into her hotel suite. The brutal attack had left her bound, gagged and terrified for her life.

The luxury goods heist took place in the midst of Paris Fashion Week, at approximately 3 a.m. on October 3rd, 2016. Kardashian was in the process of packing up her things when the attackers came into her room. In her testimony, she described the horror she experienced throughout the event.

I really thought I was going to die,” she said. The fear for her life was real, as the robbers made clear they would kill her if she didn’t comply. She continued to plead with them, saying, “I kept telling them that I have babies, and that I needed to go home to my babies.”

The thieves made off with items that have been valued at more than $6 million. Included in the stolen goods was a diamond engagement ring, worth about $4 million, that her now-ex-husband Kanye West had given to her.

After a ten-week trial, eight defendants were convicted of federal racketeering and conspiracy felonies related to the armed robbery. The suspects, said to be part of the gang of the “grandpa robbers” or “papys braqueurs” due to their advanced ages, could have to answer for serious charges. These charges consist of armed robbery and confinement without legal authority.

In the wake of that verdict, Kardashian’s counsel, Leonor Hennerick, spoke to the press outside of the courtroom. She emphasized that Kardashian is happy with the result of the trial.

“Justice has been served and she can now move on. She will continue with her rehabilitation project,” – Leonor Hennerick.

Kardashian finally announced that he would not appeal the verdict. This decision reflects her desire to end this painful episode of her life and focus on what lies ahead.
