The original music for the upcoming animated action-fantasy film “KPop Demon Hunters” is 🔥🔥🔥 Cuz it’s rocketing to the No. 1 position on the Billboard Soundtracks chart for an astounding seventh consecutive week. Released alongside the film, which premiered on June 20, the soundtrack has captivated audiences and critics alike, solidifying its place in the music industry.
“Golden,” the lead single from Huntr/x, a fictional K-pop girl group, has taken the world by storm. It subsequently went on to top the Billboard Hot 100! Don’t get us wrong, this milestone is a historic achievement! It becomes the first No. 1 Hot 100 hit for a female K-pop group. Today, the song has close to 32 million streams and 7,000 downloads. Plus, it’s recently surpassed an astounding 8.4 million impressions through radio airplay in all 50 states.
The upbeat soundtrack became an instant sensation since it came out a few weeks ago, topping Billboard charts week after week. It just achieved its highest position so far – its debut topping 100,000 equivalent album units. It’s gone on to exceed a staggering 3 billion streams worldwide to date. This week it reached the No. 2 position on the Billboard 200 chart! With this accomplishment, “KPop Demon Hunters” is the first fictional group to hit the top since Disney’s “Encanto.” Unbreakable makes it the first female ensemble to pull off this dizzying feat since Destiny’s Child in 2001.
Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans worked alongside some of South Korea’s most experienced K-pop producers. Together, they finessed sounds and wrote anthems that fans really felt. Kang underscored the focus on authenticity in their partnership, saying,
“Because we wanted the music to be really incredible and really speak to the K-pop fans and be legitimately fit into the K-pop space, we felt that it was important to partner with a Korean label.”
