Police had discovered him almost completely unclothed as he wandered down Pembroke Street. The bizarre event certainly attracted the ire of onlookers (including Federal officers), prompting law enforcement to step in. After being arrested, he was transferred to [detention hospital name redacted] hospital, though it’s unclear why he was hospitalized in the first place.
During the opening minutes of the Thursday AM Grammy broadcast, Lil Nas X confidently commandeered the street for a marquis performance. He interviewed together with the digicam rolling, apparently unfazed by the hubbub around him. According to reports, witnesses described him acting strangely with people being concerned enough to call police on him.

He made a brief comment following the incident, stating, “Didn’t I tell you to put the phone down? Uh oh, someone’s gonna have to pay for that.” This comment upholds a sense of humor paired with resistance in the face of what seems like deep injustice.
