Nike announced that it will raise prices on adult apparel, equipment and footwear, to take effect June 1. The sneaker and footwear giant announced price increases anywhere from $2 to $10 on adult apparel and gear. Footwear priced from $100-$150 will go up by $5. Shoes above $150 might increase by up to $10.
The retailer has since walked back on expanding these tariffs and indicated that it will not increase prices on children’s products or any products under $100. Notably, iconic products such as the Air Force 1 sneakers and Jordan clothing or accessories will remain at their current price points.
This latest decision is in line with Nike’s broader strategy of proactively repricing due to market conditions. A spokesperson for Nike stated, “We regularly evaluate our business and make pricing adjustments as part of our seasonal planning.” This decision further reflects their commitment to being on the cutting edge, while delivering safe and high-quality products to Americans.
These upcoming price increases are yet another signal of Nike’s focus on innovation and premiumizing its marketplace. An Amazon spokesperson remarked that the company would soon be sourcing a broader selection of Nike products to better serve U.S. customers.
