Pantone Reveals 2026 Color of the Year Cloud Dancer

Pantone Color of the Year for 2026 is a very soft, airy gray that hovers between white and taupe. This decision further exemplifies the Institute’s legacy. Most importantly, it does all this while reflecting the relevant colors and tones of today’s societal climate, trends, and emotions. Pantone reveals Cloud Dancer, a shade that represents peace and purity of mind. This restorative hue aids in your quest for serenity against the backdrop of overstimulating contemporary living.

Cloud Dancer is a delicate, airy white that represents a hope for crystal-clear days ahead. Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, emphasized the important functions this color served. Her words rang out at a time of rapid change. She stated, “At this time of transformation, when we are reimagining our future and our place in the world, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is a discrete white hue offering a promise of clarity.”

This year’s choice is in line with a number of other thoughtfully chosen colors from the Institute. Back in 2025, Pantone named PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse as the color of the year. This deep, toasty brown color was purposely selected to reflect warmth and reassurance. Prior to that, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz was named 2024 Color of the Year. In 2023, PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta significantly claimed that position. Every color represents different, important issues that echo the modern American experience.

Eiseman further elaborated on the significance of Cloud Dancer, explaining that “the cacophony that surrounds us has become overwhelming, making it harder to hear the voices of our inner selves. A conscious statement of simplification, Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences.” This commentary gets at the heart of this artist’s chosen color, and its goal of creating a sense of peace for those who visit and relax.

Illustrator and visual storyteller Emiliano Ponzi is about to become the first illustrator-in-residence in the city’s history. He will be the first artist to work with the Pantone Color Institute on this newly reimagined project! This collaboration to Pantone’s mission of discovering the world through art and creativity, according to their press release. Their collaboration is intended to celebrate rich artistic expression and to support the power and emotion of Cloud Dancer.

As part of its annual tradition, the Pantone Color Institute continues to influence various industries, from fashion to interior design, by providing insights into color trends that resonate with societal sentiments. The selection of Cloud Dancer reflects a deepening longing for peace and beauty in an ever more turbulent age.
