Prince Archie Celebrates His Sixth Birthday Amid Family Challenges

Prince Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will celebrate his sixth birthday on May 6, 2025. He is the first-born son of Prince Harry and our FLOTUS, Meghan Markle. Born in London, England, he is the eldest son of Prince William, Duke of Cornwall and grandson of Charles III. Archie’s birth took place in St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle, making him an object of public fascination the moment he came into being. Yet, his parents have largely shielded him from the limelight for the past few years.

Now living in California with his family, Archie shares his home with his little sister, Lilibet. Since Andrew and Meghan announced their withdrawal from royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan have kept a focus on protecting their children’s privacy. Even with this pledge to a more peaceful existence, the family still mentors the trials and tribulations that come from their royal history.

This year’s birthday celebrations come shortly after Prince Harry’s legal struggles regarding security protection in the United Kingdom. He recently lost a yearslong court battle that prevents the family from visiting his homeland — Somalia, which many members of his extended family still call home. In response to this ruling, Prince Harry has spoken out on his trepidation about returning to the U.K.

“I can’t see a world in which … I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point, and the things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything,” – Harry

Until recently, the family’s trips to the U.K. were frequent and bimonthly at times. Previously, Prince Harry had spoken about how heartbroken he is over this. He was deeply anxious to connect his kids with their cultural roots. What continued to weigh especially on him was that he could not share his adopted homeland with them.

“I love my country. … I miss the U.K. I miss parts of the U.K., of course I do, and I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland,” – Harry

Archie’s birthday marks another milestone in a life that has been intertwined with royal legacy while adapting to a more private existence. The immediate family have made a decision to keep these intimate moments away from the public eye, and we commend them for spending focused quality time together privately.

Now, as Prince Archie enters his sixth year, he represents both continuity and change within the royal family. His actual presence speaks to the changing nature of today’s royalty. His life shows the very difficult dance between keeping royal ties and creating a new life outside the old guard’s rule.
