Shedeur Sanders Faces Uncertainty After Undrafted Status in 2025 NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders, the former Colorado superstar quarterback, is headed to the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s already setting lofty expectations as one of the best QB prospects ever. As that draft proceeded onward, Sanders began to experience the full impact of being ignored. As the competition entered its fourth round on Saturday, he sat nervously anticipating the call of his name.

Over those first two days, Sanders had to sit and wait while four other signal-callers came off the board before him. Perhaps no move was bolder on Thursday than the New York Giants trading up to the No. 25 pick to choose Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart. On Friday, the Saints took the hint by picking Tyler Shough early in Round 2. Jalen Milroe to the Seahawks, Dillon Gabriel to the Browns in the third round.

Sanders is widely regarded as one of the top two passing prospects in this year’s draft, with some analysts ranking him ahead of Cam Ward. He slipped through the cracks as teams that needed QBs kept drifting away from him in Rounds 2 and 3. This surprising development has put Sanders in an uncomfortable position of waiting and wondering.

Despite the late and unfavorable odds stacked against him, on Saturday morning, Sanders went to X (formerly Twitter) to paint a picture of a fighter and winner. He wrote, “Another day another opportunity to get a chance to play the game I love. Thank you GOD #LEGENDARY.”

The draft resumes once more at noon ET on Saturday. Despite the disappointing offseason and lack of interest, Sanders remains hopeful about finding a new shot in the NFL. He’s put on an incredible show every step of the way. One of his most impressive moments came with this incredible no-look pass against Central Florida late in the 2024 NCAA college football season.
