Airbus has revealed a new ambitious goal of 75 new commercial aircraft deliveries per month by 2025. The company is currently planning to ship about 790 aircraft, down from its previous projection of about 820. The move by the European aerospace manufacturer comes after admitting to quality control problems. Into these issues have landed the metal panels that cover its much-feted A320 single-aisle aircraft.
This quality issue was their last-minute surprise at the end of year. This period is always a busy one for Airbus, as they experience an increase in the demand for production. Airbus officials couldn’t immediately comment on incident that has since been contained. It impacted just a small fraction of fuselage panels across the entire A320 family. The corporation pointed out that the new panels have conformed to all applicable standards since their inception.
Airbus should be in major quality trouble over A320 panel defect. Out of the blue, they announced a different software issue that grounded or severely delayed about 6,000 of their planes. This software issue may have caused up to 60,000 flight delays, forcing Airbus to step up its pace of working to solve the issue.
The combined pressure of both crises have put enormous strain on Airbus’s production capacity at an important juncture. Quality & Safety Continuity in Quality and Safety Standards Despite these unexpected challenges, the company stressed its commitment to adhering to quality and safety standards.
“In light of recent supplier quality issue on fuselage panels impacting its A320 family delivery flow.” – Airbus
Airbus is committed to addressing these delays responsibly and transparently. They promise to get those defects fixed pronto and assure that each plane conforms to their high safety standards. The company is well aware of how these issues might affect its buildout timeline. It is indeed committed to correcting them in a timely manner.
