Ford Issues Recall for Over 290,000 Heavy-Duty Trucks in the United States

Ford Motor Company – in coordination with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – has issued a major recall on over 290,000 heavy-duty trucks nationwide. This action only affects specific builds of the 2020-2022 F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty models. The automaker’s decision comes on the heels of SAFER’s reporting of safety concerns related to the vehicle’s performance.

As of September 20, Ford had received ten reports of this happening. This was the first of many such occurrences which we started documenting on January 20, 2022. The stories have reportedly spooked Ford. In response, the company is proactively initiating this recall to keep customers safe and to prevent any risk of harm with these vehicles.

The recall covers certain models such as F-250 SD, F-350 SD and F-450 SD from years 2020-2022. Ford is clearly committed to addressing these safety issues. By October 20, the company plans to send interim letters to all vehicle owners impacted by the recall. These letters will alert them to the recall and tell them what they should do next.

Once a final remedy is determined, further letters will be sent to owners. The expected date for the ultimate resolution is March 2026. Ford’s proactive approach will ease the burden of a recall on customers, but keeping them safe is the number one priority.

For questions or issues in the meantime, Ford owners should reach out to their dedicated customer service line at 1-866-436-7332. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has many other resources that help make vehicles safer. You can contact them easily in their national NHTSA hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or log on www.nhtsa.gov.
