Queensland Twins Capture Hearts with Their Unique Talent

Bridgette and Paula Powers, twin sisters from Queensland, Australia, have recently gained international fame for their remarkable ability to speak in unison. Now, the 51-year-old siblings, affectionately known as the ‘Twinnies,’ have taken TV screens across the world by storm. It may be true that spellings always flow from their pens in an automatic, spontaneous fashion.

The twins only realized they had gone viral when they noticed that people were talking about their interview on social media. Bridgette detailed how much they love the attention, but that sometimes it’s hard to police it. Speaking with SBS News over the phone, she offered a glimpse into her life—and why there’s so much hype surrounding them.

It flows organically,” Bridgette said, while noting how they never script out their discussions. Paula added in from behind the mic, reinforcing her sister’s words as the pair fielded questions about their one-of-a-kind gift. The twins had crystal clear recollections of their previous media experiences. One of those moments was Angie’s unforgettable Piers Morgan interview in 2016 that had him calling it one of his best interviews ever.

“Do you rehearse a conversation?” – Piers Morgan

“No, how can you rehearse a conversation?” – Bridgette and Paula Powers (in unison)

Even with all that criticism focused on them, the sisters don’t seem too bothered by all the hate directed at their skill level. Bridgette countered with their talent, for which she said they’re unbothered.

On an entirely serious note, the twins were recently involved in one of the most dramatic carjacked vehicle chases of all time on Monday. That day, they recalled with stark clarity, a passerby yelling out to them that they were going to get hit.

“One guy, he was up there with our mum. He went up there and he was coming back down toward us,” – Bridgette and Paula Powers (in unison)

Bridgette’s dream is that their viral success will bring more attention to the issues they care about. She remarked on the importance of wildlife conservation, saying, “It would be great. Yeah, because all wildlife need to be saved.”

So far, the Powers twins have wowed viewers with their synchronized speech patterns and endearing sweetness. More than ever, they’re fully in control of this wave of attention. Meanwhile, they remain completely committed to continuing to tell their story and fighting the good fight on key issues.
