SBS Expands Accessibility with Daily News Podcasts for Diverse Audiences

SBS has gone a long way with allowing easier, more accessible ways to consume the news. In addition, they added special daily podcasts tailored to English learners and people with disabilities. The network features a diverse range of podcasts including “News in English,” “On the Money,” and “Religion and Spirituality.” These shows provide a quick, clear, and engaging summary of the news, reaching new and diverse audiences.

Their “News in English” podcast provides an excellent five-minute lay of the news every day. The interactive guide is designed to help you navigate the new law and its implications. This initiative aims to support English learners by simplifying complex news stories, making current events more accessible to those who may find traditional news formats challenging.

Beyond serving as an important resource for supporting English learners, SBS understands the need to serve all people, including individuals with disabilities. The network’s podcasts are designed to be inclusive. They make sure that all of us are able to stay connected to what’s going on in our communities and across the world. By making these audio formats more convenient and accessible, SBS hopes to help build a more informed and engaged public.

SBS’s “On the Money” podcast extends those efforts even further, delivering a ten-minute summary of the past week’s finance and business news. Presented by Ricardo Gonçalves, SBS Finance Editor, this engaging new podcast gets you up to speed on the things you really need to know about money. It is meant to be a jumping off point for anyone with an interest in economic development who can’t afford a large time investment.

Our podcasts are now available on all major podcast apps, putting the content right where listeners are. This accessibility is right in line with SBS’s mission to provide news in the formats that best serve the varied needs of their audience.
