SBS Expands Accessibility with Daily News Wraps and Podcasts

SBS is committed to increasing accessibility and understanding of this innovative education. It produces a unique mix of news wraps, explainers, podcasts and shows each day to advance that mission. From the Australian broadcaster’s recent programs and services, which include English-learning programs and initiatives for people with disabilities, …

The flagship program “On the Money,” is hosted by SBS Finance Editor Ricardo Gonçalves. In under ten minutes, it provides a blazing fast summary of all the day’s top finance and business headlines. This short, daily segment is our listeners’ morning shot of economic intelligence—getting them up to speed on the ever-changing economic landscape. Second, because it provides them with the fundamental knowledge they need to make informed decisions.

While SBS is known for our finance-focused GENBiz content, it doesn’t stop there. It provides a five-minute daily news wrap created especially for English learners and people with disabilities. This project is yet another example of SBS’s commitment to inclusivity, ensuring critical resources are available to more diverse communities.

These news segments are readily available to listeners on the SBS website as well. They’ll discover a new section exclusively for news podcasts. This special section includes “On the Money.” It provides a wealth of other English-language podcasts, which in large part help listeners understand current events more clearly. The podcasts are available on most major podcast apps, so you can listen wherever you listen to your other favorite shows.

SBS’s focus doesn’t stop there though, with their expansion of audio content. The broadcaster has created a unique, identifiable visual brand language that works in tandem with its robust aural brand muscularity. Photos associated with its various podcasts, such as its “On the Money” and English learner’s podcast, drastically improve the aesthetic and user experience. They are a great way to engage listeners and attract more interesting guests.

The release of these resources highlights SBS’s Charter to serve the whole Australian community by providing multilingual, multicultural content that breaks down barriers to information. As you might expect, SBS produces high-quality, fun and informative learning experiences. That creates a dangerous situation where Americans of all backgrounds cannot be informed on the pressing issues of the day.
