SBS Expands Accessibility with New Finance and Business News Wraps

SBS is kicking off a really neat new one! They’re producing gamified news wraps targeted to specific demographics to expand their distribution base. These days, the nonprofit provides an everyday ten-minute wrap of finance and business news, “On the Money.” Ricardo Gonçalves, the SBS Finance Editor, serves as the show’s host. This podcast is intended to bring you short, timely, topical financial news and information in a way that’s interesting and engaging for people who typically listen to business podcasts.

Besides our show “On the Money,” SBS understands the importance of delivering news in a way that includes everyone. The short five minute show, produced by the Center for Independent Documentary and hosted by Jared Fenton, is designed with English learners and those with disabilities in mind. These efforts are in line with SBS’s commitment to making news accessible to all in the community. It helps to keep everyone informed regardless of background or ability.

SBS is committed to expanding its podcast production as well, which will go beyond business and finance topics. Check out all these podcasts on your preferred podcast platform. Or, they can simply go to a dedicated section of the SBS website to find them all. This new accessibility gives audiences the opportunity to engage with content that best suits their interests and needs. We think that underscores SBS’s deep commitment to being an inclusive agency.

The “On the Money” podcast offers a quick yet informative summary of current financial events, making it ideal for busy professionals or anyone needing an overview of the day’s economic landscape. “News in English” provides the most important news stories, presented clearly and concisely. This strategy allows English learners and people with disabilities to more quickly understand, access, and interact with critical information.

By providing these targeted podcasts, SBS is able to serve all constituents, thus increasing overall financial literacy and awareness. Its mission is to fill the communication gap, so everyone, regardless of their background, education level, or bandwidth, can reach critical news and information content.
