These launches follow SBS’s previous announcement of two new news podcasts, all in the view of offering more accessible content to audiences from diverse backgrounds. The debut production is “On the Money.” It provides a short daily ten-minute summary of finance and business news, presented by SBS Finance Editor Ricardo Gonçalves. The second is “News in English,” which is a five-minute news wrap tailored specifically for English learners and people with disabilities.
Business “On the Money” brings listeners quick-hit updates on financial and commercial issues, keeping them connected to the most current and impactful changes. Hosted by Gonçalves, the podcast offers friendly guidance and deep analysis that audiences rely on to make sense of confusing financial news. The structure of the program lends itself to an easily digestible format. It’s ideal for on-the-go listeners who need faster access to the key messages.
To better serve both English learners and members of the disability community SBS has rolled out, “News in English.” This new addition enhances their ongoing program, “On the Money.” This podcast provides an easy-to-understand five-minute news wrap that breaks down what’s happening right now into easy-to-digest, bite-sized pieces. By meeting the needs of this audience, SBS is able to show its commitment to inclusivity and education.
Listeners can find both podcasts on the SBS News website, specifically in the news podcasts section at https://www.sbs.com.au/news/listen. The podcasts are available on iTunes, Stitcher and other major podcasting apps, so users can listen on the platform of their choice.
SBS have done a great job visually distinguishing the shows so that audiences can immediately recognise the podcasts. The “On the Money” podcast cover art is available by clicking here. These new announcements are part of SBS’s long-term strategy to diversify its media content and appeal to a broader audience. SBS provides deep, targeted programming to address specific needs. This step enhances its recent news mission to provide smart, engaging and hyperlocal news to all of its readers across the community.
