SBS Expands News Podcast Offerings for Diverse Audiences

SBS has ramped up its digital media operations with a new podcasting initiative featuring a series of remarkable and engaging news/political podcasts. Including their daily finance segment “On the Money” and their fast, five-minute long, “News in English” podcast. These offerings serve a wide range of participants. They represent English learners and individuals with disabilities, ensuring that all people can access important breaking news information.

On the Money, SBS Finance Editor Ricardo Gonçalves’ daily, ten-minute recap of what you need to know in finance and business. This new podcast is your one-stop-shop for all things changing in the financial sector. Listen to learn more so that you’re in the know and ahead of the game! With Gonçalves’ background in finance, he’s well-equipped to take complicated subjects and explain them in a way that makes sense.

In addition to “On the Money,” SBS produces “News in English.” This five-minute podcast is produced with English language learners and people with disabilities in mind. This effort reflects SBS’s deep commitment to doing the work of inclusivity. It reinforces a unique platform that brings important information to life in a compelling and user-friendly format to reach a broader audience.

SBS discovered that many of their websites globally figured this out, so they created a home for news podcasts on their website, sbs.com.au/news/listen. The site offers several SBS News podcasts, a testament to their dedication to providing impactful storytelling in various forms. In addition, these podcasts are distributed through the world’s most popular podcasting apps, making it easy to reach people who increasingly want to consume news on-the-move.

SBS News produces six podcasts and counting. From “On the Money” to “News in English,” you can hear these and hundreds of other programs that take you deep into the world of ideas. This diversity allows SBS to reach an expansive audience, ensuring that everyone can find relevant news content that fits their interests and needs.

SBS continues to redefine the digital boundaries of news delivery. In addition to their deep-dive audio, they feature a variety of short-form content on their website and podcast platforms. We are grateful to their efforts in underscoring the need to make news more interesting and educational to all parts of the population.
