SBS Expands Podcast Offerings with New Financial and English Learning Programs

In keeping with its commitment to serve diverse audiences, SBS recently welcomed two new podcast programs to its lineup. SBS Finance Editor Ricardo Gonçalves will be the host of On the Money, a daily ten-minute finance and business news wrap. Plus, “News in English” will feature a daily five-minute news summary designed specifically for English learners and people with disabilities.

“On the Money” aims to provide listeners with concise and relevant updates on financial matters. Gonçalves has 15 years of experience in finance journalism. He will lead these dialogues to arm listeners with helpful perspective on emerging market trends, economic developments, and other factors shaping the financial landscape. This new podcast series is another step in SBS’s overarching mission to provide smart, engaging content that connects with audiences.

To further improve accessibility, SBS has launched a brand new introductory program, “News in English.” This free, high-quality online resource serves as a self-led guide for anyone looking to build their language proficiency. This five-minute long podcast provides short, easy to understand news stories in a format friendly to English learners and the disabled. By breaking down complex news events into manageable segments, SBS aims to foster a better understanding of current affairs among its listeners.

At the same time, these two new podcasts are a small piece of a larger push by SBS to invest in its news content on multiple platforms. You can listen to the SBS News podcasts from the collaborative organization’s website at sbs.com.au/news/sbs-news-listen. They’re available on your favorite podcast apps! This new program is indicative of SBS’s commitment to go beyond the usual audiences and meet people where they are with tailored services.

The “On the Money” podcast has a new logo with a unique graphic indeed, representing its money matters specialty, seen here. Coincidentally, “News in English” is depicted by an image that reflects the educational spirit of the project, seen here.

SBS is committed to delivering Australia’s most diverse news podcasting. It’s never been easier to discover stories that speak to your passions! With the addition of “On the Money” and “News in English,” SBS demonstrates its commitment to providing relevant and accessible news programming for different audiences.
