SBS Launches Daily News Wraps for English Learners and the Disabled

SBS recently started an all-around great initiative to help English learners and people with disabilities. They’ll be keeping everyone up to date with a daily five-minute news wrap! This unique service, intended to help current affairs feel welcomingly familiar, is only a small part of SBS’s ongoing push for inclusivity and service to the community.

You’ll still be able to listen to the daily news wrap through the SBS News in English podcast. This podcast provides concise summaries of key news stories, enabling listeners to stay informed without being overwhelmed by complex language or lengthy reports. The new initiative specifically serves individuals and communities who struggle to engage with news in traditional formats – including people with limited English proficiency and people with disabilities.

Apart from the Khmer News in English podcast, SBS is home to a number of other podcasts that discuss all sorts of relevant, interesting topics. Among them is “On The Money,” a slick ten-minute daily wrap of finance and business news. This podcast is presented by SBS Finance Editor Ricardo Gonçalves, who delivers insights into key financial developments in an accessible format.

Listeners will find these podcasts on their favorite podcast platforms – maximizing the reach of this cutting-edge, informative content to a large audience. SBS produces these resources to help support English learners and people with disabilities. They do this by not only keeping them informed about the world around them.

SBS’s promise to provide simple, direct news stories exemplifies its focus on accessibility and education. The organization’s efforts reflect a growing recognition of the importance of inclusive media in today’s society.
