Hedon Set to Welcome New Cash Hub Following Bank Closure

Hedon is about to get a key new cash centre. This shift follows the announcement that the town’s last bank will close its doors next month. This facility will further enable local residents and businesses to maintain continued access to cash services. DPD has found that cash services are increasingly important for this community and beyond.

It’s great to see it finally beginning to happen.” said Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness. He stated, “It’s great news that cash is now secure for Hedon.” Stuart’s campaign for a banking hub in the town has been met with challenges, including a previous rejection from Link, the UK’s cash network operator.

This programme, Cash Access UK, stepped in following the bank’s shutdown. They’re currently looking for the best possible location for the cash hub in the centre of Hedon. The organization has long been committed to establishing this hub in a busy neighborhood shop or storefront. They want to ensure that it really serves the community’s needs.

Stuart thanked all the stakeholders—developers, fiscal hawks, and others—who worked together to win this creative alternative cash facility. He noted, “We’ve worked on a cross-party basis, everyone basically coming together as a community. It means that the money and the jobs will be sustained in the Hedon area.”

Hedon cannot overstate how important cash access has been. Stuart highlighted that cash, unlike technological solutions, was already trusted by residents and local small businesses. “Whenever I’ve been to Hedon, you can see the two ATMs at Lloyds always seem to have people using them, the bank is busy and businesses tell me that they need cash,” he remarked.

He pushed the point that the new cash hub should be a one-stop shop for personal and commercial needs. “So, it’s vital that businesses have access to cash, that punters have access to cash and the cash hub will allow both people to get money out and the businesses to pay money in,” he added.

Stuart has been proactive in reaching out to local shop owners to make sure their needs are taken into account as this pilot moves forward. “I’ve been talking to various shop owners there about making sure that we give them the best possible choice,” he stated.

Launching our own cash hub in Hedon is just one example of the steps we’re taking to protect local people’s access to financial services. This is critically needed as mainstream banking options are still vanishing. Local officials and residents are doing everything they can to keep the cash hub. Consequently, it is poised to serve as an indispensable tool for ensuring long-term economic prosperity in Hedon.
