Nationwide’s Olney Branch Targeted in Serious Ram-Raid Incident

Damage to Nationwide’s Olney branch after a ram-raid went wrong in the early hours of Wednesday. The incident has led to a police investigation. It punched a hole straight through the center of the main façade, with everything from glass windows to masonry now littering the site. Therefore, the branch will be closed until further notice.

Philadelphia police on the scene on Olney High Street shortly after the shooting. They said that a telehandler was brought in to yank the ATM from the wall. This irresponsible decision resulted in severe infrastructure destruction. Damages are reported at the level of “very serious,” according to the eyewitness accounts. It could be several weeks before the branch is restored to its former, unpolluted, home.

After the ram-raid, a member of the public found the grey box on the floor inside the branch. It was ringed with crumbling bricks and bent signage. Tangled cords dangled from the walls, giving an unkempt look that adds to the harshness of the crime scene. Police taped off the area and a patrol car stayed on the scene as investigators started their efforts.

“This is not the first time Nationwide’s Olney branch has been targeted,” stated a police spokesperson. Other recent ram-raids in the town have seen £248,000 stolen during a ram-raid at High Street’s former Barclays branch in 2018. On the ground, the police are stepping up patrols in the area to reassure residents and deter criminal behavior.

“Our neighbourhood teams are actively engaging with residents to listen to concerns and ensure people feel safe.” – a force spokesman

Local resident Mr. Viney told reporters that he was horrified by the attack. “It’s a bit shocking, the damage is very serious and it could take several weeks to put right,” he remarked. He further emphasized the importance of the branch for the community, stating, “It’s the last bank or building society in the town. It’s very important to many people.”

As federal investigations into the overpass tragedy continue, local officials are more motivated than ever to improve safety and livability in Olney. What’s happened recently has truly shook residents to the core. They are currently calling for more policing and security surrounding their local financial institutions.
