New Housing Development Proposed Near Mallard Complex in Forest

Infinity Group recently submitted a planning application for their new residential-infill development beside the Mallard Complex in Forest. With planning consent already secured, this project will go some way to address the island’s acute housing crisis. The proposed project has a total of 101 units. It includes 45 houses and 56 apartments, offering different types of lodgings that can accommodate one-bedroom homes up to three-bedroom houses.

The proposal aims to bring more affordable housing to the growing southern part of Guernsey island. Paul Nobes, the director of Infinity Group, welcomed the step forward in addressing the local housing supply crisis. He stated that the site represents “an ideal development which helps to ease Guernsey’s housing supply pressures.”

The planning process on the project is advanced and if approved, construction could start as soon as February 2026. Mr. Nobes mentioned that being on this site allows for a more quickly built facility than larger, more complicated developments. This practical approach would provide an immediate stopgap to the housing crisis.

Housing out to completion will come in stages. This includes the current timescale for completion of the final phase — between fall 2028 and fall 2029. This timeline is a testament to Infinity Group’s ongoing commitment to building affordable housing that meets the demands of today. It equally underlines their commitment to getting homes on the ground fast.

Guernsey is remaining innovative and proactive in addressing the island’s housing crisis. This proposed development is an important first step in increasing the supply of affordable housing across the region. The effort has garnered the attention of local media. BBC News, Guernsey’s Jake Wallace and Sarah Lewis have covered the story.
