New Phase of Priorslee East Development Unveiled with 135 Homes

The Priorslee East SUE is currently Telford’s largest housing development. Plans are already in to develop it further – to increase it by 135 additional homes. This smart growth development is a notable success in a state-leading initiative. It will produce 1,100 residential units in addition to amenities such as a major commercial and employment centre, a primary school, and a retirement village.

The current iteration of the proposal includes a range of housing types. Out of these new homes, 32 units will be specifically affordable two- and three-bedroom family-sized homes. The rest of the 103 homes will include open-market options, providing two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. This recent advance furthers the overriding objective of Priorslee East Strategic Urban Extension. It’s intended to help fill the entire spectrum of housing needs to accommodate young people, families and seniors.

We’ll get into parking provisions, which are another big feature of this development. The plan as submitted includes a staggering 281 spaces for residents—many more than required by the council, which only requires 271 parking spaces. This small oversupply is intended to prevent future parking concerns in the surrounding neighborhood.

“The slight oversupply here will help to reduce the potential for ad-hoc on-street parking” – Roebuck Planning

The Priorslee East Strategic Urban Extension Priorsleed plan to reduce available housing. An impressive 24 percent of the homes will be built to be affordable. This commercial-to-residential development is an example of how Arlington County wants to stimulate their local community and improve housing availability. It’ll improve local infrastructure with the inclusion of a proposed primary school and local business hub.

Yet, the Priorslee East Strategic Urban Extension is more than a conventional housing development. It really does demonstrate how comprehensive Telford’s approach to urban planning has been. This transformative project combines residential, learning and working environments. Its purpose is to make a creative, exciting community that meets the aspirations of all its people.

Planning authorities are hastily adjudicating the proposals that have been submitted. They want to ensure that this expansion truly meets the needs of the communities along the corridor while adhering to all regulatory requirements. The investment is seen as providing a much-needed boost to help meet Telford’s increasing need for new homes.
